Jim Rice

Jim Rice is the band director at Jackson High School in Mukilteo, WA. Mr. Rice, an avid proponent of a well balanced music program, has had outstanding groups, earning consistent superior or first place ratings in all areas of instrumental music performance, involving concert, jazz, marching, and small ensembles in each school music program in which he has taught throughout his music teaching career. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Central Washington University with a B.A. Ed. in Music, has earned an M.A. in Music from the University of Washington, and has been honored as an Outstanding Young Man in America. Formerly he was the Director of Instrumental Music and Music Department Chair at Woodinville High School in the Northshore School District.

In addition to his teaching assignments, Jim Rice has served two terms as First Vice-President of the Washington Music Educators Association, as well as president of the North Olympic Music Educators, and was the Organizing Chairperson of the 1990 WMEA All-State Jazz Ensemble and the 1997 All-Northwest Orchestra. He has served on several comprehensive curriculum development committees, and is active throughout the western states and Canada as an adjudicator/clinician. He also has served as congregational chairman, and is a music committee member and choir member at his church. He and his wife Donna have two children, Rachel and Rebecca.
