The Filson brand actively seeking an in-house content manager who excels at storytelling and uncovering the wonderful world of Filson. This individual must have a passion for adventure, an enthusiasm for exploring the wild places and people that truly live the Filson Life. Filson is at an exciting place right now – actively growing the brand and social following, expanding into other countries and building the brand for the future. Through this it’s essential that we are doing a great job telling stories and showcasing what the brand can and should mean to existing and new customers. That’s where you come in; looking for a self-starter, who is hungry to explore and document their and others adventures. This role comes with a mix of in office and in far-flung field work.
Role: This role’s responsibilities include creating and publishing content on behalf of the brand. This takes the shape of photographer, content ideator, writer, editor and steward for the brand. The role is unique in that it has responsibility to capture content that will be used for multiple brand activations – social media, Filson Life Blog, occasionally catalog, in-store, web, etc. It requires a spirit of adventure and a journalistic approach to be constantly digging deeper to capture the underlying story.
Responsibilities
- Content Capturing/ Creating
- Brand Storyteller – concept and cull through multiple ideas to find the “brand right” ones to pursue
- writing and editorial skills to capture brand voice in short form – 140 character tweet and long form blog/ web posts
- Attending and shooting as social photographer some of the brand catalog shoots, and additional content gathering missions for social
- Cataloging all shoot product, making selects, providing assets to social team and creative team
- Be responsive to needs of the broader team to market events, etc
- Close coordination with Social and marketing team to develop and update a calendar for social posts to ensure the content pipeline is always full
- Develop campaign relevant content in coordination with creative team
- Develop and ideate seasonal content that keeps us relevant with the activities of our social audience
- Close coordination with social team to capture the pulse of the Filson community and reflect it in the content we’re developing
- Forum Manager
- Develop content ideas, source and secure stories for the Filson Life blog
- Work to ensure blog is current and updated – this includes posting at least 3x/month
- Keep web team apprised of new content and post schedule so they can promote accordingly
- Influencer/ Contributor outreach
- Uncover the obscure – find content, ideas, influencers within the wild corners of Filson customers and be part of bringing their stories to life
- Source and manage multiple contributors from all disciplines – film, photography, writers and Filson’s own Pro Staff to activate the channels and help tell our brand stories
- Cultivate relationships with like-minded individuals who want to participate in FilsonLife and other brand activities
- Build a network of influencers who fit the Filson profile, supply ideas and characters to creative producers for potential campaign content
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of related experience
- Bachelor degree in journalism or communications preferred
- Ability to travel 30-40% of the time
- Exceptional writing/editing skills and the ability to adopt the style, tone, and voice of our business
