Humble Design – Internship Applications

Calling all students interested in social media, design, community impact, and policy! Humble Design is seeking interns to support our mission.

Humble Design is a Seattle-based nonprofit that works with individuals, families, and veterans who are transitioning from homelessness into housing. We use donated furniture and home goods from the community to transform their house into a home. By doing so, it helps to provide financial stability and gives hope for the future.

We are looking to bring on 10-12 interns this March to create social media content, manage marketing campaigns, conduct outreach and community engagement, and assist in policy research and statistics collection.*

Marketing/Public Relations Intern (4):

Responsibilities: Creating a digital marketing campaign to increase visibility for our fundraising events, brainstorming and implementing new marketing channels, advertising through Humble Design’s publications, and working on marketing strategies. Supporting Director on fundraising initiatives in events. Conducting general outreach and relationship maintenance with influencers.

(Experience with Canva, InDesign, and Photoshop preferred but not required)

Social Media Intern (4)

Responsibilities: Content development for Humble Design social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok, etc), tracking social media analytics, conduct market research, and generating creative marketing and social media campaigns. Supporting Director on fundraising initiatives in events. Partnering with Marketing/Public Relations Interns to increase Humble Design’s social media presence and visibility.

(Experience with Canva, InDesign, and Photoshop preferred but not required)

 Non-Profit Leadership Intern (2)

Responsibilities: Conducting community outreach to form coalitions and partnerships, brainstorming new awareness and fundraising strategies, reaching out to donor and corporate sponsors, developing new recruitment strategies, and assisting with event/campaign management and preparation. Assisting in grants application preparation process, including research, cold-calling, and drafting applications.

 Policy/Research Intern (2)

Responsibilities: Creating and applying strategies to ensure that Humble Design is included in Seattle’s city-wide discourse on homelessness, researching homelessness in Seattle and the city’s current policies, conduct analysis to determine if Humble Design’s values and mission align with potential partners, and assisting with on-going data collection. Assisting in grants application preparation process, including research, cold-calling, and drafting applications

*All interns will be expected to provide assistance and take on tasks of different projects when needed.

 

 

 

Requirements

– Current or recently graduated college students.

– Experience or interest in design, marketing, policy and research, non-profit leadership, and event planning.

– 15 hours for 10 weeks (Start of Spring Quarter—End of Spring Quarter)

– The internship will be conducted remotely with occasional optional in-person events.

– Strength in problem-solving, creative thinking, and analytical skills.

– Flexibility and reliability, willingness to work with others to complete projects in a timely manner.

 

Details

This is an unpaid opportunity open to students of all majors and backgrounds. Students may receive academic credit for their experience in cooperation with the school.
