POSITION PURPOSE
The Q Center is seeking an engaging and collaborative Operations and Events Coordinator to enhance our operations and events capacity. This role will directly support the Assistant Director of Operations in carrying out the day-to-day operations of the Q Center including, but not limited to: inventory management for programs; cleaning, upkeep, and design of the physical space; in house tech maintenance; and, support the Assistant Director in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures related to operations, space maintenance, and safety. This role will also directly support the Assistant Director of Operations in event management including, but not limited to the following: event design, talent management, payment set-up, advertisement, and staffing the event itself. The Operations and Event Coordinator is expected to uphold the mission and values of the Q Center and be an intentional, accountable partner in this unit’s transforming culture.

Promising candidates will possess a passion for working in a student-centered environment, stay focused in a fast-paced and lively work environment, and lead by example with students and staff. This role reports to the Q Center’s Assistant Director of Operations and the Q Center Director.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Project Management – 45%

  • Construct and carry out plans for events as assigned by the Assistant Director of Operations. This includes building and executing a plan, event advertisement, backend organization, stakeholder engagement, and carrying out the events themselves.
  • Research and recommend innovative marketing and engagement techniques.
  • Support the development and maintenance of an accessible calendar of all organizational events,

    programs, deadlines, as well as shared responsibilities/coverage.

  • Support short- and long-term organizational goals and aspirations.
  • Support the planning and implementation of large-scale events, such as Lavender Graduation, The Welcome Luncheon, Etc.

    Operations – 45%

  • Supports all staff to be fully informed of all policies and procedures as instructed.
  • Responsible for management of daily operations, which includes resource library, resource inventory management, order preparations and receiving, daily sanitization of high-contact areas within space.
  • Coordinate with other student staff to ensure all students seeking services have access to them – with an updated inventory, etc.

Training – 10%

  • Receive coaching and support for how to deliver effective trainings on campus.
  • Deliver trainings as assigned by Program Manager and Q Center Director. Trainings will include best practices for supporting LGBTQ+ students

     

    IMPACT TO THE UNIVERSITY
    This position will support the Q Center to carry out our events and daily operations. This role is a representative of the Q Center, its values and mission, university-wide.

    POSITION COMPLEXITIES
    Candidates will possess an interest and excitement about dialer operations management, want to build strategic planning and project management skills, and will have a demonstrated history of working with teams as well as working independently. Applicants must also speak to their commitment of performing to the highest level of integrity and have a history of developing and carrying out ideas

    SUPERVISION
    This position reports to and works under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Operations and the Q Center Director.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    This position does not supervise others.

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    This is an hourly work study appointment.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in communications, business/management, but any degree path is welcome).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate diplomatically and effectively with staff and students alike.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High level of demonstrated professionalism and judgment.

    Equivalent combination and experience may substitute for required qualifications.
