CSC Lab Participates in College of Engineering STEM Bridge Program

Recently Dr. Charlotte Lee and Drew Paine of CSC lab had the opportunity to work with four incoming engineering and science students as part of the College of Engineering STEM Bridge program. The Bridge program provides incoming engineering and science students from backgrounds that are traditionally under-represented in STEM fields with a four week transition to college life. Kindle DX Pilot Project – Forbes article

The Amazon Kindle DX pilot project continues to attract national attention. Forbes just wrote up a brief article on the project, which provides a quick look at how a few of the other schools in the project consortium are studying the Kindle DX in the classroom. Our study starts in late September 2009 and runs through the school year.  We can’t wait to get started!

Kindle DX Pilot Project

In Fall 2009, each incoming University of Washington Computer Science & Engineering graduate student will receive a Kindle DX, Amazon’s latest wireless reading device, to use in place of traditional printed textbooks and research papers in their first-year graduate courses. The students also will receive textbooks and other required reading materials free of charge for the Kindle DX.
