Permeable paving

Definition

Permeable paving is a pavement system that allows precipitation and air to infiltrate to the subgrade below it. It is intended to reduce runoff and filter pollutants found in stormwater.
Porous paving generally consists of either a flexible unit paver with void space between the pavers to allow percolation or void spaces within the actual paving that allows percolation through the pavement.

The general categories of permeable paving system include:
O
pen-graded concrete or hot-mix asphalt pavement
Aggregate or Plastic pavers that include cast-in-place or modular pre-cast blocks
