UW Medicine is consistently among the nations top three medical schools in federal funding for biomedical research. Its teaching hospitals are regarded as among the best in the country. During accreditation, its neighborhood clinics received a perfect score for meeting rigorous standards in health-care services. Its medical school has 1,600 regular faculty members, and 4,100 volunteer clinical faculty members who teach students in towns across the WWAMI region of Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho.
UW Medicine has memberships in the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and the Childrens University Medical Group, and major academic and service affiliations with Childrens Hospital and Regional Medical Center, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and the Veterans Affairs Medical Centers in Seattle and Boise. UW Medicine also has clinical affiliations with a number of providers throughout the region.
