Clinicians on the UW Medicine faculty are dedicated to the care of their patients. Moreover, many serve in national and international leadership roles to improve patient care throughout America and around the globe. Some do this through their membership in the Institute of Medicine or on national task forces. Others work through their professional societies on public education campaigns or to influence practice changes in their specialties. Several advocate across the country for greater understanding and better services for people afflicted with specific conditions. Through all of these efforts, many people are more informed about health issues and are receiving care that is more carefully aligned with their needs.
