Sofia Jepson

Sofia is a PhD student in the Bioengineering Department. She obtained her B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of Washington in 2020 and completed her senior capstone with the Mack Lab, contributing to the early protocol for the engineered muscle tissues (EMT) platform. After graduation Sofia joined local biotherapeutics company Just-Evotec Biologics as a member of the Cell Line Development team, creating cell lines as a part of the integrated biotherapeutics process development and manufacturing platform, but is excited to rejoin the NDRG as a graduate student! Her research interests include tissue engineering, in vitro disease modeling, and muscle-neuron interactions. Sofia joins the muscle spindle project to learn more about this important cell type and its contribution to proprioception and distal arthrogryposis pathology.
