Ashenafi Cherkos accepts faculty position at University of North Texas
Congratulations to Ashenafi Cherkos, PhD Candidate in the Department of Epidemiology and Global WACh student trainee, who accepted a tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, Texas.
Ashenafi is a former Assistant Professor of Public Health at Mekelle University, Ethiopia, where he taught epidemiology, biostatistics, and research methodology for undergraduate and graduate students. His main research interests involve maternal and child health, such as infectious diseases, nutritional disorders, growth and development, and health care utilization practices.
In July, Ashenafi presented his dissertation defense titled, “Effects of HIV exposure, tuberculosis and HIV treatment, and isoniazid preventive therapy on prognosis and growth trajectories of children.”
