Mix it up! Global WACh and Global Health Collaborative host mixer to connect on global health interests
On January 11th in the Hans Rosling Center for Population Health, the Global WACh (housed in the Department of Global Health) and Global Health Collaborative (GHC) in the Department of Pediatrics hosted a mixer for faculty and trainees to connect on shared interests in pediatric global health topics, including infectious diseases, implementation science, and healthcare systems strengthening in limited resource settings.
Both groups share a mission to improve global child health and survival catalyzed by the work of their respective faculty, staff, and trainees. Both groups value collaborations, mentorship, advocacy, and research efforts to achieve their missions. The mixer offered an advantageous opportunity for members of Global WACh and UW Pediatrics to meet and mingle across departments. Strategic match-making efforts at individual tables and an ice breaker activity aimed to facilitate conversations around their work and areas for potential collaboration.
Kate Rankin (Global WACh Managing Director), Dr. Grace John-Stewart (Global WACh Founding Center Director), and Dr. Leslie Walker-Harding (Chair of Pediatrics) welcomed attendees and gave remarks on building a community that reflects our values and supports one another.
Thank you to the organizers and attendees! We look forward to seeing this partnership grow.
