Announcing New Global WACh Faculty Directors
In late 2023, Global WACh embarked on a search to identify three new Faculty Directors — two internally at Global WACh and one externally among our global partners — to provide key leadership and input on Center-level priorities. They will join the Staff Directors, Kate Rankin and Alyson Shumays. Dr. Grace John-Stewart, the Founding Director, will continue in her role to mentor the new faculty leadership. Together, they will work towards advancing priorities, including social justice initiatives, investing in local and global partnerships, and financial sustainability. We are thrilled to begin the new year with an announcement of the new Faculty Directors:
Dr. Irene Njuguna, MBChB, MPH, MSc, PhD
Dr. Njuguna is a Research Scientist at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and an Affiliate Assistant Professor in UW Global Health. Her research interests focus on optimizing outcomes for children and adolescents living with or affected by HIV. She co-directs the HIV and Co-Infections Through the Lifecycle scientific priority area and co-leads the Rising Star Award Program aimed at identifying and supporting careers of highly talented junior investigators from low- and middle-income countries and broadening Global WACh collaborations.
Dr. Patricia Pavlinac, MSc, PhD
Dr. Pavlinac is an epidemiologist and an Associate Professor in UW Global Health, as well as an Adjunct Associate Professor in UW Epidemiology. Her research aims to identify interventions to halt morbidity and mortality attributed to enteric and diarrheal diseases in children. She co-directs the Gut Health and Child Survival scientific priority area.
Dr. Anjuli Wagner, MPH, PhD
Dr. Wagner is an Assistant Professor in UW Global Health. Her research interests within global health include HIV prevention, HIV testing, and implementation science.
