International Workshop on Pediatrics & HIV and AIDS 2026 Abstract Posters and Presentations
In July, researchers affiliated with UW/Global WACh and partner institutions attended two annual conferences held in Rio de Janeiro: The International Workshop on Pediatrics & HIV and AIDS 2026, the International AIDS Conference. Both conferences are highly influential meetings on cutting-edge HIV research and its applications to move science into policy and practice.
We rounded up 8 poster abstracts and one presentation disseminating findings on several collaborative studies based in Kenya and Sub-Saharan Africa.

“The BONDS Study: A multi-country study with planned interventions to understand and improve long-term outcomes for children and adolescents with perinatal HIV exposure” presented by Dr. Irene Njuguna (Emory University; Kenyatta National Hospital; Global WACh Advisor, Partnership and Collaboration) at the 12th Symposium on Children and Adolescents with Perinatal HIV Exposure pre-conference session titled, “Long-term follow-up: From data to action.” The session looked at why it matters to consistently track perinatal HIV and antiretroviral exposure to understand long-term outcomes.
