Sarah Hicks

Sarah Hicks is a Research Scientist for the Global Center for Integrated Health of Women, Adolescents, and Children (GWACh) in the Department of Global Health. Sarah is an epidemiologist whose research has focused on the intersection of HIV; women, adolescents, and children; and implementation science. Since 2020, she has supported a variety of Global WACh projects focused on HIV prevention and treatment. She currently works on the BONDS project within RISE (PI: Dr. Grace John-Stewart), testing the effect of a complex maternal/child support intervention on neurodevelopmental outcomes among HIV-exposed youth, as well as the AMANI project (PI: Dr. Arianna Means) which aims to increase the use of maternal and perinatal death response and surveillance in Kenya. Sarah received her PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Washington in 2025. Her dissertation investigated sociobehavioral determinants of retention in care and mental health among youth ages 10-24 in Kenya, leveraging the DiSC cohort (MPIs: Drs. Grace John-Stewart and Pamela Kohler). Sarah also received an MPH in Epidemiology (UW, 2022) and a BS in Public Health (UW, 2018).
