Acting Assistant Professor
Alex Yuan, PhD, is an Acting Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Metrics Sciences and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington. On the Future Health Scenarios team, Dr. Yuan’s research identifies patterns in the historical dynamics of health determinants and estimates how health determinants may evolve globally if these patterns persist. His work emphasizes constrained optimization and constrained dynamical systems.
Dr. Yuan joined IHME in 2025 as a Postdoctoral Scholar on the Future Health Scenarios team. He holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Washington and an MS in Applied and Engineering Physics from Stanford University.
