Alex Yuan is a Postdoctoral Scholar on the Future Health Scenarios team at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington. Before joining IHME, Alex completed a PhD in the Molecular & Cellular Biology program at the University of Washington, where he invented statistical tests to help scientists evaluate whether apparent correlations between time series are likely spurious or potentially meaningful. Alex also holds an MS in Applied & Engineering Physics from Stanford University. Alex enjoys contributing to a variety of statistical research tasks, from formal mathematical arguments that verify a method’s properties to simulations that illustrate pitfalls and best practices for statistical techniques.
