Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Climate Change, and How to Stop It

AiLuBOD

In the past few decades, the temperature has risen because of human activity. Humans use processes that release carbon dioxide into the air, which absorbs the sun's heat. The atmosphere becomes warmer with this trapped heat, melting icebergs and preventing many species from surviving as they adapt to the new climate. Carbon dioxide makes up more of the atmosphere than ever before, and the amount of carbon dioxide continues to rise. In 1958, the average carbon dioxide concentration was 316 ppm. Today, the atmosphere has about 419 ppm of carbon dioxide, about a 32.6% increase in 63 years. The carbon dioxide comes from many sources. Most importantly, as factories and cars burn fossil fuels, they release carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. Cows also release carbon dioxide. We can stop adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere by using alternative fuel such as electricity. We can also stop eating beef. I know not all people are willing to make these changes but if you have the bravery to try, then you will help our world.
