Reuse & Repurpose

It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Share your ideas for extending the “lives” of the items that we buy and use, and their packaging as well!

Reuse & Repurpose

Donating old clothes to local thrift stores and buying clothes from local thrift stores is a way to reuse and repurpose. We can also take reusable bags to grocery stores instead of using the bags already provided.

I agree! If we donated our old clothes (or unwanted clothes) to local thrift stores and buy more from the same store we can reuse and repurpose them! I believe that is a good way to keep the amount of products made to a minimum. You can find many great finds at thrift stores and not only do thrift stores sell and take in clothes, they also take in furniture and other items such as, old vases, artwork, tables, and more! We also can as you mentioned use reusable bags in grocery stores instead of the plastic ones they supply. A way we can prevent plastic bags from being used is by upping the price of them and lowering the price of the cloth bags. An alternative use for plastic bags you still have is using it to pick up waste, in other words turn them into garbage bags.

I agree. You can also take the plastic bags if you do end up using them and instead of throwing them away you can bring them two zero waste disposal site where you can sort through things that cannot be put into the  city recycling and recycle them. If you do end up getting plastic bags you can also reuse them. For example if you need to go to the grocery store but you do not have any reusable bags you can use already existing plastic bags that you got last time, or maybe it is raining and you have something in your bag that you do not want to get wet but you do not have a wet bag and you decided to walk then you can wrap that said item up in old plastic bags that you already have. Or just as you said you can use them as garbage bags. You can also donate your unwanted/small/old clothes or unwanted toys or more for free instead of bringing them to thrift store that way you know it goes to someone who needs it or even just makes it more probable that someone will get it since it is free.
