What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

We need to make a change
I will never understand how we just keep consuming and buying and throwing stuff away while somewhere on the other side of the globe there are people who have nothing
I completely agree with this post, so many people just aren't aware that so many people around the world have little to nothing, while people who are fortunate throw away a days worth of a meal to them.
I agree with you Maria, we tend to waste all this food while we know there are others that are struggling to know where their next meal will come from.
I completely agree. In The United States, a quarter of our food goes wasted every year. Simultaneously, we have a big homelessness problem here and yet are still wasting so much food. Food that could be going to someone in need, especially in these times. Sadly, many people have a privileged mentality and do not know what it is like to not know where your next meal is coming from. The only solution is to spread awareness and make sure your friends know why throwing away perfectly good food is a bad habit to have. By doing so, we can all make a change together and help out not only the people on this planet, but the planet itself.

I completely agree with you Maria, we definitely need to make a change because all we are doing is buying too much food and then we end up wasting it all. Also instead of just wasting our food, we can give it to the people struggling out there without food, and we that do have food tend to throw most of it away.
I agree, I think it is very necessary to make a change, not only in how we consume and waste food, but also the foods we eat. Meat, especially red meat, and dairy are things that we usually eat on a daily basis that have a large impact. While many people, including myself, might not be ready to be completely vegan or vegetarian, it’s important to be more conscious of how much of those things were eating and try to have as many vegan or vegetarian meals as possible.
