What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food and what we can do with it
All around the world people are dying of hunger while there is enough food for all of us.
There is food that is being given to life stock while we could give it to starving people instead.
I agree with this idea. If we just cut back on the amount of livestock, there would be more food for those who are starving. We’re to the point where some people just straight up throw away their food. That’s an evident sign that we probably are producing too much livestock. And those livestock are eating up all the food that could’ve been given to those who are starving.
I agree that we should give more to the less fortunate.
I agree that people are using up a lot more food on other places instead of humans However, to keep all other species alive, or to prevent extinction, we are going to have to give some amount of foot to other species as well. Viewing ourselves as too superior isn't good either, but I agree we could probably dedicate more food to humans.
I agree, it is very important that instead of contributing to food waste we could easily give this food to the less fortunate or live stock. This is a good way to help eliminate food waste while also helping those who are not wealthy enough to buy food themselves.
I think livestock is important and that cutting down on our livestock could be detrimental. I think the answer to hunger is how much we as humans waste and throw away. In 1st world countries why are we wasting and throwing away so much food?
This is very true because while people are starving in other countries us people in the more modern countries are wastes tons of food a day.
It's always depressing to see the food trays full of food thrown away without a thought at my school. So much food, including things like untouched apples, oranges, milk cartons, and things like pizza are tossed in the trash and forgotten without a thought. I remember my old school had a spot where you could put fruit + vegetables you hadn't eaten, and then that food was free for kids to take. That was good, but then over covid they stopped doing that because of possible contamination.
