Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Patience with Food Production

As the human population has grown and evolved, our demand for nicer things is at a standing point. For instance, we want to have the best tasting food, right this moment, not caring how much it affects the planet. We force farmers to overpack animals just for them to meet product demands. I am in no way trying to pressure anyone into becoming vegan or vegetarian, I believe in eating whatever you want. What I am trying to get across is that we as consumers need to be flexible in our wants and needs if we want to keep the environment healthy and safe.

I agree. We shouldn't feel that we always have to have the most and nicest things, and we need to be flexible. Our environment is a priority.
