What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food Waste
We as humans waste a ton of food, but why? Why do we throw nutrients that we need away? There are tons of solutions to this such as schools, for example, they force kids to grab a fruit or a vegetable. The kids always throw the food away though, we should stop forcing kids to grab food and let them grab whatever they please. What other solutions can fix this?
good questions, I ask the same things.
Waste of food is a large concern in all regions of the world. I'm assuming you are from the United States, where the school system forces you to take food in order to have all the nutrients needed. However, as a student in Vietnam, we are not 'forced' to do so. Some schools may serve your lunch in portions and expect you to finish the whole thing, but you end up throwing them away. Then, food waste is not dumped in the trash can immediately, we recycle our waste by feeding it to pigs or use it as decompose. Therefore, many places have different approach to food waste, and to mitigate this problem, we should finish our food and do not cook an excessive amount of it.
I agree with you, I like how in your country they do not force you to take a certain fruit or so. We should "waste" food in a good way like how you said, feeding it to animals. Thank you so much for your time and comment.

I'm sure that people know food's importance but they are too lazy to think of a solution.
Our parents ,at least most of them, keep telling us about it.
A obvious solution is store the food we don't finish to eat and eat it the next day or as soon as possible.
Everyday I see lots of people throwing away what they don't eat at school, because "It's disgusting", "I don't like", "It's too much for me", "I'm not hungry anymore"... I know in our school, food is not really good but we have the chance to HAVE FOOD, a lot of food.
Before covid we shared more leftovers. Now I see people throwing away all their meal.
I feel really bad when I throw food away but people around me think it's no big deal.
