Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

is truly necessary use the vehicles?

Jackpapo

I think that we have to do something now.
In my personal opinion in these years we prefer to use the car or some public transport, but this isn't normal.
I also think that when we want to hang out with some of our friends we should go
by bicycle or maybe we should do a walk.
And now the price of gasoline is higher, which is one more reason to go for a walk with our friends.

Yes, I agree that if we want to hang out with friends we should go by a bicycle or a walk but if we are going long distances it is more necessary to use a vehicle especially if you aren’t living in an urban area with different sources of transportation.

Audrey Strong

I agree. I personally live close to a lot of places and feel like I should walk places more. Although during the winter months it is often to cold to walk places so this is not always an option. But with the right weather, walking can be an enjoyable way to help save the environment one step at a time.

You can also use bus lines or the train, public transports are often faster than cars because you have to find a place to park. They are cheap and it helps to reduce the CO2 emission. Walking or riding a bicycle is good when you live in the city.

I agree that we must try and use less vehicules, in winter it is more difficult but if you cover yourself well it can be possible.

Hello, yes I totally agree with you, we have to act now. Taking the bike and the public transport, or walking are good options. The world is corrupted by money and so much business is put in petrol.

This is a great point. I found additional information on this topic in a search I conducted which points out the fact that transportation alone makes up around 30% of carbon emissions globally. Of these emissions, upwards of 70% are produced from cars alone. Many of these comments have mentioned biking or walking to destinations instead of driving. Although these options may be viable for certain distances and climates, not everyone will be able to completely remove vehicles from their lives. Because of this, it is important to recognize that there are additional ways to reduce transportational emissions. Some of these ways include carpooling, accessing public transportation, or, if you can afford it, invest in an electric or hybrid car.

I think walking and biking is nice when you live in the same city. But when you are far from your friends you can use public transport. Indeed it is better to use public transport than our own vehicle. It allows to reduce our CO2 emission.

Yes this is a good idea to walk to places and bike and use publoc transportation. But this isent alwas suitable for the types of persons that why we humans like to use cars more then that because we find it more simple and suitable. I think we can also use elecric cars even thougth it dosent do much of a difference it still helps! We can also find ways for humans to prefer puboc transportation instead of there cars. But it also takas time to find public transportation that is willing to take you from one place to another.
