Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food Nutrition in Nowadays City (Indonesia, Jakarta).

Randy Rahmani

Food that is commonly found in school cafeterias and courtyards in large cities in Indonesia is mostly unhealthy and has poor nutritional value. Schools in large cities such as Jakarta are exposed to street food vendors that sell snacks that aren't hygienic and healthy. Street food is common because of its affordability. Unhealthy foods are very delicious and taste because of their excess salt and fat contents. Cheap and delicious food is often favored by students because of its availability. The government should provide a cheap and healthy option for students and schools across big cities in Indonesia.
