What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food and Hunger - Tofu
There are many ways that going vegan can decrease your carbon footprint. Not all people are going to become vegan but even just not eating meat twice a week can help your carbon footprint. A concern that comes with this is health as typically, vegan meals may have significantly less protein than a non-vegan meals. a good solution for that is tofu. Tofu is a good option because of its affordability, ingredients, and higher protein levels. In fact, tofu has over 10 grams of protein in just half a cup. while this may seem like a lot, tofu is light and not filling. Not only does tofu have high protein but it also has lots of accessibility because of its ingredients. According to ourworldindata.org (linked here: https://ourworldindata.org/soy), only about 7 percent of soybeans are used for human consumption and as shown in trophic cascades, we can take about ten percent more energy from the soybeans by consuming them directly. This means we can harness soybeans even more and fill all the boxes of accessibility, protein consumption, and most importantly carbon footprint.
