What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

According to my carbon footprint results, the food I ate was more than the average in Taiwan. I ate meat almost every meal, so I should start eating more vegetarian meal. The good thing is that I don’t waste food, so I don’t cause any global warming by eating food. People that waste too much food can affect the Earth really badly.
Here are some ways to stop food waste:
1. Take an inventory; know the amount of food you should eat.
2. Store food appropriately.
3. Buy “ugly” food; when people only buy “pretty” food, the “ugly” food would be thrown away. Which cause a lot of food waste.
4. Use leftover creatively; for example, add them to a new meal.
Video of how we can stop food waste:
GOOOOD POINT! we really should know the amount we eat, and use leftover creatively.
Yes, I think those are some very good ways to prevent food waste and me myself should also try some of these techniques too.
Some other ways I recommend to stop food waste are:
1. Create a meal plan.
2. Save and eat leftovers safely.
3. Try to compost.
Here is a video that I would like to share to everyone:

I agree, more vegetarian meals should be provided since animals take a lot of time to reproduce and grow. A vegetable usually takes about 70 days to grow, but a cow takes 2-3 years to be slaughtered. As you can see, a vegetable grows much faster than a cow, this means that people should eat more vegetarian meal than a meal with only meat in a week. Also if people waste food, they are wasting food that can be used for feeding children in poor areas around the world. People should be more considerate about not wasting food but using it in a more productive way to save many things around the world. For example, people can decompose their leftover meals so that it can be used for growing plants with nutrition from the past meals. This is one example, but there are a lot more ways to save the food from getting wasted by us to keep the environment clean.
I agree. People have wasted approximately 16.5 million tons of food over the past year in Taiwan. If we continue to waste more food, global warming and pollution will be a big effect in our lives. I have also looked at my results in the Carbon Footprint and I eat more meat than vegetarian meals. There should be more vegetables supplied for us since eating meat like cows or pigs take about 283 days to be killed off but only 70 days for a vegetable to be grown and prepared for us to eat. If people continue wasting food, the environment will be bad for the vegetables we grow. It will be affected by the pollutants and will most likely die. One way we could conserve more food is to only buy the things you will need. For example, if you buy groceries for the next month or so it will become rotten and it will go to waste. You should check what you have in your refrigerator before you go grocery shopping to make sure what you will need to buy and what you don’t need to buy. You can plan ahead or make a list (grocery list) of the things you want to buy.
