In the Northern Hemisphere in 2017 and 2018 brought several destructive hurricanes to the shores of North America, the Caribbean, and throughout the Pacific rim. Such extreme weather events are predicted to get more common and more severe with increasing climate change.
Several participating classes in the ISCFC were or are in the path of these storms and we hope for the best for them, their families and communities.
We would love to hear from students affected directly and indirectly by extreme weather events, and also any students who have been following the news this summer.
What are your thoughts about the connection between climate change and extreme weather events? Has this hurricane season increased your concern about climate change or not? Do you think that US citizens and residents (and others in the region) will take climate change more seriously now?

Extreme Weather

There is a significant connection between climate change and extreme weather events because rising temperatures on earth has led to severe changes in weather patterns leading to hotter summers, colder winters, and stronger storms. I think US residents should take climate change more seriously now because warmer average temperatures can lead to the increase of many diseases. As well as climate change leads to a rise in sea levels, as glaciers and ice caps melt because of this many habitats will be lost.

It is a pity that people are not aware of the importance of climate change.

I think that it is important for all people to be informed of climate change and ways to lower their own and their families effect on climate change by putting up ads that show the consequences of climate change and in the ads write about them and their family's condition if climate change fully happens and ways to lower their impact on climate change like carpooling, using less meat, recycling more and encouraging companies to actually do recycling rather than just putting signs of Recyling and throwing away all of the things that were supposed to be recycled.
