I think as a general rule of thumb, it’s a good idea to see if something can be reused or repurposed  first, and if not, then result to recycling the item. In general, however, there are many ways to extend the life of things before they are tossed! For example, a plastic product that is frequently thrown away is plastic bags. However, plastic bags can be utilized in many different ways before they are tossed. Aside from simply reusing them, they can be used in projects such as creating products with single-use bags. One such example is plarn, which is a type yarn made out of plastic bags. That yarn can then be used for other projects, such as crocheted products!
