In the Northern Hemisphere in 2017 and 2018 brought several destructive hurricanes to the shores of North America, the Caribbean, and throughout the Pacific rim. Such extreme weather events are predicted to get more common and more severe with increasing climate change.
Several participating classes in the ISCFC were or are in the path of these storms and we hope for the best for them, their families and communities.
We would love to hear from students affected directly and indirectly by extreme weather events, and also any students who have been following the news this summer.
What are your thoughts about the connection between climate change and extreme weather events? Has this hurricane season increased your concern about climate change or not? Do you think that US citizens and residents (and others in the region) will take climate change more seriously now?

Is Global Warming the cause?
Yes, global warming is the cause of extreme weather patterns all around the world. According to the research of NASA, every sense the world has become industrialized greenhouse gas emissions have surged. The temperature since the 1880s the overall global temperature has gone up about 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit and 0.8 degrees Celsius. The burning of fossil fuels have caused this to go up. Fossil fuels have been burned for energy as they produce a lot of it. Its cons are having the global temperature go up. This has cause glaciers to melt and cause the sea level to rise. This causes greater waves. In my personal experience Lake Tahoe has become a victim of large climate change. I go to Lake Tahoe every summer and over the past couple of years in the middle of July there will be full on rainstorms.
According to NASA, global precipitation rates have gone up due to climate change since 1900 which has cause lots of floods. Also extreme droughts have happened as while such as California. A couple of years ago California was in an awful drought that lasted many years. According to NASA, this will continue to happen all over the world due to climate change. All and all extreme weather patterns are due to the burning of fossil fuels and the way to stop these patterns is to reduce the amount of fossil fuels we burn.

As I agree mostly on your opinion, your forgetting on the central concept, this is the water cycle. As Global warming is a real reality, its also been a significant misconception in social media. As Greenhouse gases are released into the environment, they increase the Earths temperature due to trapping infrared rays in the earth. This causes water to evaporate more quickly (why we have droughts) (remember that water vapor is also a greenhouse gas). The water vapor also increases the earth temperature and as it does so heat up air particles in such in such convulsion. This causes more wind and a higher chance for the cold to meet hot. This clashing of two opposition is the leading cause of hurricanes and lightning storms. The warmer air can also create intense wind, causing bigger waves (though not as big as a tsunami). To support your answer Ryan Global warming is the cause of most extreme weather, but not all.
I agree as well, that the global warming is the causes of extreme weather patterns all around the world. Global warming is getting worse and this is causing extreme weather(hurricanes, storms, and earthquakes). This is also having the water evaporate quicker. Which is why we have droughts.
