Extreme Weather

In the Northern Hemisphere in 2017 and 2018 brought several destructive hurricanes to the shores of North America, the Caribbean, and throughout the Pacific rim. Such extreme weather events are predicted to get more common and more severe with increasing climate change.

Several participating classes in the ISCFC were or are in the path of these storms and we hope for the best for them, their families and communities.

We would love to hear from students affected directly and indirectly by extreme weather events, and also any students who have been following the news this summer.

What are your thoughts about the connection between climate change and extreme weather events? Has this hurricane season increased your concern about climate change or not? Do you think that US citizens and residents (and others in the region) will take climate change more seriously now?

The changing of weather and different fronts are big reasons why the climate change is so weird. The change in climate is the reason there's been an incline in the extreme weather events that have been happening all around the world. This hurricane season has definitely increased my concern about climate change because it's only become worse over the past few years and I really hope that US citizens become aware of what this extreme weather is coming from so that we can change this.

I agree with you saying that the changing of weather and different fronts are big reasons why the climate change. and the climate is causing weather to change and cause hurricanes

Changing the view point of the whole world is hard because just by reducing your carbon footprint you can help a lot, but not everyone wants to change.

I also think that people should be more aware of the extreme weather change because it causes lots of damage, and the extreme weather can kill people.  I think everybody should try and reduce their carbon footprint.
