In the Northern Hemisphere in 2017 and 2018 brought several destructive hurricanes to the shores of North America, the Caribbean, and throughout the Pacific rim. Such extreme weather events are predicted to get more common and more severe with increasing climate change.
Several participating classes in the ISCFC were or are in the path of these storms and we hope for the best for them, their families and communities.
We would love to hear from students affected directly and indirectly by extreme weather events, and also any students who have been following the news this summer.
What are your thoughts about the connection between climate change and extreme weather events? Has this hurricane season increased your concern about climate change or not? Do you think that US citizens and residents (and others in the region) will take climate change more seriously now?

The climate change is a direct consequence of the global warming. The destructive events happened in the north america are due to the amount of the CO2 in the atmosphere, that traps the heat increasing the global temperature. I have not directly been stricken from these events, but they have increased my worry. I think that the global warming and the climatic changes are the actual most serious problems and that the man must mostly sensitize him to find a solution to these problems.
I totally agree with you Lorenzo. For this reason I believe that today the main objective of the policy must be the environmental problem. All the states in the world should work together, because we are talking about a serious and global problem.
I don't understand why the governments don't think that it's better to invest to stop global warming. If they do this they will save a lot of money because theses crazy extreme climatic events have terrible social costs. They have to have a long term vision and they don't have to think that is right what is apparently convenient economically.
I agree. As the heat is being trapped there is a big difference in the weather. I live in California and we have only recently had rain. Our state was consumed by smoke for a little while and the rain finally helped clear it.
