In the Northern Hemisphere in 2017 and 2018 brought several destructive hurricanes to the shores of North America, the Caribbean, and throughout the Pacific rim. Such extreme weather events are predicted to get more common and more severe with increasing climate change.
Several participating classes in the ISCFC were or are in the path of these storms and we hope for the best for them, their families and communities.
We would love to hear from students affected directly and indirectly by extreme weather events, and also any students who have been following the news this summer.
What are your thoughts about the connection between climate change and extreme weather events? Has this hurricane season increased your concern about climate change or not? Do you think that US citizens and residents (and others in the region) will take climate change more seriously now?

Global Warming
As most people know, the earth is gradually heating up because of carbon emissions into the atmosphere. How does this affect the world?
As our world slowly heats up, we are killing species and organisms that aren’t fit for those high climates. As animals die, this causes dramatic changes in our food chain and carbon cycle as it is thrown off by the loss of an organism.
Kateee this is not entirely true because those that die are supporting decompossers
If we continue to "destroy" like that our planet, we are killing ourself because we need biodiversity and if the earth is heating up again those things are going to disappear and the human too, we have to take care of our planet and of ourself too !
I agree with you
I agree with y'all the more we burn fossil fuels the hotter the planet gets which causes global warming. And global warming causing many problems like deaths of species, ice caps melting and really really hot summers.
The blobal warming is the reason of the melt of the ice caps. And the died of the polar bears.
I agree the more we burn fossil fuels for our advantage the world will continue to get hotter and we will eventually lead to our own demise.
Defrosting the polar calotte affects ocean 's growth.
The hotter our planet gets from climate change the more the world is shifting and I don't mean literally. In Antarctica, the temperatures are dropping leaving polar bears to go to more woodland than their own artic resulting in mind bear babies coming about. The climate also affects our environment by causing more and more natural disasters such as forest fires that have been happening more and more recently especially in California where I live. The effects of climate change keep rising changing what we know as our environment into something that can only be considered a tragedy.
If we are releasing more carbon then that could mean a number of different things. For one, if there is more carbon in the atmosphere then the Earth will heat up which will cause more flooding, wild fires, heat waves, etc.
