It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Total Meltdown
After learning about climate change and how greenhouse gases play a role in it, I've become more aware of the issue of glacial melting in the Arctic. As the temperatures globally rise, glaciers rapidly melt. Human impact is a huge contributor to this problem. In fact, recent studies show that two-thirds of glacial melting is caused by human impact. In addition, 425 billion tons of ice melt each year due to climate change; 295 billion tons of that ice melts directly from human causes, such as pollution (130 billion tons from natural causes).
Other than temperature rising, glaciers are also melting due to the reflectivity of a region and the soot in the air. Air pollution from wildfires, coal burning power plants, and other man-made sources create soot that absorbs into the ice. When the ice darkens, it absorbs more sunlight that accelerates the process of melting. The faster the ice melts, more land and ocean is exposed which also absorbs more heat and melts the ice even more quickly. As these glaciers melt, the sea level rises, which could potentially wiping out some of our coastal cities in the future. Before we know it, the glaciers we know today may be gone tomorrow if we don't limit our CO2 emissions. Although we cannot fully stop global warming, it is important we take action and slow down the process of global warming.
