It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Are Compost Bins That Effective?
One of the most common things people will do when asked to recycle is to use a compost bin to collect their scraps of food, such as eggshells or skins of vegetables, and things like lawn clippings and leaves as well. However, how effective are these in helping our environment? Of course these bins will keep trash out of landfills and help the soil, but this is only a small amount in the grand scheme of the world. Not everyone uses these bins, and there would most likely only be a large impact if a great amount of people began recycling in this way. Most people don't use compost bins because they're inconvenient. For example, the inside of the compost needs to be between 104 and 113 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature is hard to maintain. Another problem is that you have to learn what can and cannot go into the compost, as you may accidentally ruin it if you put the wrong things in. Also, if you don't have a garden, you don't have soil to nourish and give nutrients to. Although aerobic composting releases few greenhouse gases, it still releases amount of CO2 into the atm osphere.
These are only a few of the reasons that compost bins are not a likely solution to reducing your carbon footprint because they're hard to maintain, inconvenient, as well as release CO2 into the atmosphere.

This is an interesting opinion! I think everything has to start somewhere. Obviously, not many people use compost bins at the moment, but if more and more people start using them, others will follow. Eventually, it would have a great effect on the environment. The more people use compost bins, the more others will try them.
Though it may seem time consuming, I think it is a sacrifice that we should try to make to help the environment. I think compost bins should be used more often.
