It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

I think people can always find other ways to use what they think they don’t need rather than just throwing it away. Such as old food for example, instead of throwing it in the trash you can create a compost pile that can then feed your garden and prevent further waste going into landfills. The plastic bags from grocery stores can also be used for school lunches and storing things instead of just a one time use and then throwing it away. Also, instead of when you grow out of old clothes or items you can donate them to thrift stores opposed to cutting their lives short and throwing it in the waste bin. Do any of your families practice similar things?
