It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Vegetbale Oil Car
According to http://www.nature.org/greenliving/gogre … le-oil.xml in the year 2000, the United States was producing more than 11 billion liters of vegetable oil annually. A clever way of reusing this excess oil is by converting our cars from gasoline powered cars to cars powered by vegetable oil. Many restaurants, end up dumping their excess oil, but instead the oil can be collected as fuel for car who run off vegetable oil. The oil can be collected from many different types of fast food chains as well as restaurants who fry potatoes and other foods. Diesel fuel has a much higher Carbon output than vegetable oil. Diesel cars can be easily converted to run off vegetable oil by making simple modifications. Vegetable oil does not reduce the power of the car nor does it reduce the miles per gallon of the car. Since many restaurants are happy to give away their excess oil for free, many of us should convert our cars to run off vegetable oil, repurpsing the oil as well as saving some money.
Wow Elias, what a great post! I completely agree with your statements about the vegetable oil car. I really like how you brought the aspect of repurposing oil into the conversation, as that is something used by thousands of restaurants across the world. I also think that it is interesting that using vegetable oil can save you money, which begs the questions: why aren't more people using vegetable oil run cars. Vegetable oil is something pretty easy to come by, and it is cheaper than gas. And why not make simple modifications to our cars to help save the environment. This was a really good post Elias and I want to explore more about vegetable oil engines.
