Reuse & Repurpose

It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Share your ideas for extending the “lives” of the items that we buy and use, and their packaging as well!

What we should do with trash?

paulinazac

First, we need to get concious and think, how many trash do you thing that the world produce every year? A lot, so imagine if we continue like this, we will need to throw it to space. Do we really need to buy, buy and buy to throw it into the garbbage, we should think and decide, do we need this stuff? what will happen if everyday I make more and more trash?
The solution is easy, first think what you really need and when you have to delete something, unless of taking it into the trash we can make the 3r, reuse, reduce and recycle. If we try to make a difference, and everyone do a little change, we can make a big one.

i think that with trash we should make it smaller so we reduce garbage in a certain way

and if we make like the fun way is easier that the people put the things in the trash.

There should be research to find an alternative solution to landfills and other destructive systems for waste. Our individual reduction is very important, but we need a longer term solution because the human race will never stop producing large quantities of waste as a whole. A first step in the right direction might be finding a way to separate the biodegradable waste and create a system to spread the biodegradable material into the ecosystems to let them healthily reenter Earth's systems instead of being concentrated in a cage of non biodegradable materials.

We should also make it easier for people to reduce, reuse, and recycle so they are more likely to do so. For example, what if we had communal compost heaps for the street?

i agree with you pau

I agree that the 3 R’s are very important to live by. I think that the most important of the 3 R’s is to reduce. Reducing our consumption at the source is the most direct way to limit the amount of waste that goes into the landfill. It helps reduce the amount of raw materials that need to be harvested in the first place, and also has the added benefit of helping to save money. Reducing can also lower the need for recycling and reusing.

To reduce, we must ask ourselves if the product we are considering buying is really necessary, whether it is a want or a need. American consumerist culture encourages the importance of having the latest and greatest new product, especially technology, when really the old product still works and it is not necessary to buy a new one.

Some good ways to reduce are to borrow and rent items like party decoration, tools, and furniture when possible. Another way is to look for products that have limited packaging to reduce the amount of packaging in the landfill and also save money. A good way to do this is to buy in bulk. Also, look for product s that will last a long time because having to replace them less often will reduce waste. In conclusion, reducing is the first and most important step in lessening the amount of garbage in landfills.

i think that trash sould be put in places where there is not harmful for the humans, also that we should recycle and reuse more because of all the pollution that it is causing. More products should be made out of recyclable materials.

I agree with you Pau, but we need to think of other things, like convincing people to get the trash on the waste basket. because if we don't otherwise, it would all be on vain. So I would like to know what can be like a way or ways to convince people?
