It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

What We Can Recycle
A lot of schools and families are starting recycling programs around their home and schools. Most people just recycle paper and plastic, but there are many other things you can recycle too, like glass. Recycled glass reduces related air pollution by 20 percent and related water pollution by 50 percent. If it isn't recycled it can take a million years to decompose. You can also recycle newspapers. There are millions of newspapers printed in the U.S each day, most of them being thrown away. Just recycling the Sunday newspapers would save more than half a million trees.
There are other great ideas you can use instead of recycling too. Using reusable water bottle containers has a significant effect on the environment. Plastic water bottles take thousands of years to decompose. Most people, including my family and I, go through about 3 plastic water bottles a day each. Imagine if we all used reusable containers. I have started to use reusable containers more often be cause I did not realize the big effect it has on the environment. Other ways to help the environment are to recycle cellphones, aluminum, and wire hangers.

Hello Kelly, I really like your idea. I mean, recycling paper is a very effective and easy way to help is reduce CO2 emissions, but I agree with you, there are many other thing apart from paper an plastic that we can recycle, for example batteries and printer cartridges. I agree with you that recycling glass would help a lot because just like batteries, it takes forever to decompose, which has many negative impacts in our world.
