It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Do REALLY you need a new one?
I feel like a lot of us like to throw away our old things just for the sake of having new, clean things. For example, I know that a lot of my school supplies from the previous year, such as binders, pencils, and pens can be used again the next year. However, I just like to get new things for the new school year and not reuse my perfectly good old things. However, I don't stop to think about the impact this makes on the environment. Not only am I throwing away my old things, I am buying new things I don't need and wasting materials. I think we do the same thing with clothes too sometimes. Sometimes I throw away my old clothes that I have outgrown or don't wear anymore. However, these clothes should be donated to charity so other people can wear them. At the same time, I sometimes buy clothes that I don't need and that I never end up wearing. Both of these actions are detrimental to the environment and are wasting its precious resources. In conclusion, we should tr y to reuse things like school supplies whenever we can, and only buy new clothes when we need them and donate our old clothes to other people.
I used to have the problem of always buying new school supplies every year too. But this school year, I reused all of my binders, tabs, pencil bag, pencils, pens, etc. It's all good as new!
I used to always buy new school supplies at the beginning of every school year but then I realized why? I still had packages of pens and pencils from previous years so what's the point? More and more trees were getting cut down because I couldn't just use the pencils I had leftover. I'm also a really big advocate for second-hand clothing. It truly is better for our environment, and you truly can find some stylish pieces. Most and almost all of the clothes I've outgrown goes to donation centers or younger relatives.
I personally like to start the year with a fresh set of school supplies. Somehow pencil lead ends up coating everything in my pencil bag by the end of the year. In order to get the illusion of having new supplies without being wasteful and buying new ones, I would consider simply removing pencil markings. Here is a link that may be useful in removing these stains: http://home.howstuffworks.com/how-to-re … stains.htm
For school, I always want new supplies but for clothes I am very strict. First, I won´t buy anything that I don´t like and wont use it, also I only buy things I realy want or I need. We should buy only the things we realy need, but someone told me that most of people wants something different after a few years or years because they want to change of place and don´t be doing always the same. In the other hand, its not correct to buy, buy and buy new stuff that you dont need, I think the solution would be buying the things you really need and be concious if you want to buy something because you really like it.
Hi Kelly! I love this idea! I noticed that throughout my last few years, I didn't use half of the things that the school required me to buy. Glue sticks, markers, and colored pencils weren't really used, so instead of buying new ones, I just saved the ones from my previous year. This benefits the enivronment, and it saves money for student's parents. The second-hand clothing is a great idea! Many places such as Goodwill really appreciate used clothing and can distribute it to people in need. Both of these are great ideas!
