I had personally struggled with this issue for a long long time. Every time I tried to clean my things and found so many aren't being used at all. I didn''t want to throw them away and said to myself that I would use them anyway. It always turned out that I never did so and eventually got rid of them. The problem is not whether we use it or not. It is why would we buy a thing we don't use much? may be because it looks attractive and beautiful on the shelf. We need to consider carefully before any consumption.
Extending the lives of these items might also be helpful. But that's a lot of work though. We can have some groups discussion about new ways to use worn-out items.
