It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Water Bottles
One thing that helpful to reduce your carbon footprint, is to not use plastic water bottles, but use reusable water bottles such as Nalgenes or Camelbaks. I personally use multiple Nalgenes throughout the day and have converted many of my friends over into using them.
Wow I really needed to read this! #inspiring
I agree that you should use non plastic water bottles. I use nike bottles with tap water for my sports everyday. If you do happen to use plastic water bottles, do not throw them away after one use. They can still be reused and they can be repurposed. For example my old school used them as hanging planters for plants. All you have to do is cut a hole in one of the sides, fill it with dirt, plant seeds in it, cut little holes for strings, and finally string it up. Never throw a plastic water bottle away after one use.
Changing the world one Nalgene or Camelback at a time
As a side note the plastic straws you get in drinks waste plastic and you don't need them. All over the world 500,000,000 straws everyday. Here is the linkhttp://www.choosetobestrawfree.com/
