It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Recycle
Recycling is great because you are using far less energy and fewer natural resources. It also keeps waste from piling up in landfills. Recycling also decreases waste output and stops resources from being wasted. In 2000 recycling stopped the release of 32.9 metric tons of carbon equivalent. (www.SOCRRA) If everyone around the world recycles and makes an effort to not waste resources we would not be in the situation we are now. Our natural resources will not be around for ever, and by reusing materials we will prolong the life of the earth and the life on the planet. We should also make an effort to move towards more renewable resources. Recycling is great and everyone should do it, but humans should be also focused on resources that will not be used up, or at least not used up as quickly.
I completely agree Nico, by recycling we are saving our valuable resources. If humanity does not start realizing that our lifestyle is not sustainable, we will one day not have a place to live because if will be destroyed by our own mistakes. To prevent this we need to take part in things like recycling and invest in cleaner more efficient ways of living our daily lives.
Recycling is a cool thing. Although, please elaborate on your idea Mr. Neeks because I would like to know what resources you said would not be used up very quickly. Do you mean resources like honey since bees cause it to be sustainable and in turn, a great resource. But, please elaborate.
Also, adding on to my earlier statement. An increase in vegetarians could help with this because eating vegetables or fruit helps both us, and the plants, and allows sustainability. While, eating meat may keeps a balance in the food chain, it still can be over excessive considering how many Humans there are on this planet. According to vegetarian times magazine, "the number of U.S. adult vegetarians is 7.3 million, or 3.2 percent of the population in 2008." in conclusion, it is great that we have vegetarians because it is sustainable, but we still need meat eaters to balance out the food chain.

Yes!, I agree also recycling is a very important and fairly easy way of sustaining the Earth's wellness. And like you said it only takes a little bit per person to make an enormous change. Did you know that in America 31% of retail food sold is wasted along with other reusable goods. Also you are absolutely correct that reusable resources could do so much good for the world, but companies and industries need to know the consequences of their businesses and how easily it can be avoided or just helped. And one last point I would like to add is that when stores overstock in food there is an immense amount of food wasted and that store should recognize what people want and don't want and stop throwing perfectly good food away when it expires.
