It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Plastic Bags
Plastic bags are all over the place: flying through the streets, in the gutter, in our house, and left behind at lunch. They are incredibly bad for our environment, According to the Wall street Journal, Americans use and throw away 100 billion plastic bags every year, which requires 12 million barrels of oil per year to manufacture. Paper bags use almost as much oil, fuel, and transportation as plastic bags do, so they aren't the answer. The next time you go to the store, bring a reusable bag from home.
I agree, it is much more sustainable if you bring your own bag when you go shopping. It can reduce your carbon footprint more than you know and a plus is that they are better than plastic and paper because they do not break as easily. Also, if you do use plastic bags or paper bags, you can reuse them for things like collecting your trash.
I agree with using plastic bags for trash. At my home, we always bring a bag with us if we are going grocery shopping. And if we receive a plastic bag, or use one to hold food, we always save them to use as a trash can cover. Also, many people don't care what happens to their used plastic cans, so it better to at least properly throw it away, and be certain that it hasn't flown off.
