Reuse & Repurpose

It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Share your ideas for extending the “lives” of the items that we buy and use, and their packaging as well!

Recycling/Repurposing and Reusing

Many people do not take recycling seriously, and they believe that recycling is not necessary. In my opinion, recycling is the best thing that us humans can be a part of. It does not take much time and it does not cost anything either. Recycling and Reusing is something that everyone can accomplish easily, and if more people would contribute to this, even a little bit could help make the world a better place. Anyone can make a difference because recycling and reusing could reduce the amounts of trash filling our earth. Trash has a huge impact on earth because the more waste we throw out, leads to the more Carbon Dioxide being released into the atmosphere. Therefore if we are able to make a difference, we should take advantage of it and take action.

I agree with this. I believe that recycling as much as we can makes a huge impact on our environment. Recycling is a way to limit our trash efficiently and it is very simple to do. Just by placing a piece of cardboard in the correct bin you are recycling. It may seem small, but it makes a difference. Reducing trash by recycling helps keep our air clean because we don’t have to burn fossil fuels to get rid of the trash. It also helps keep our Earth clean. Less trash caused by more people recycling reduces the amount of trash in dumps or in random places it should not be. Things like plastic never break down and go away, so by throwing something that should be recycled into the trash like a plastic water bottle can be more harmful than you might think. In fact, it takes an average of 400 to 1,000 years for just one plastic water bottle to decompose. Also, a large amount of our trash ends up in oceans and this affects our sea life, as seen in the Great Pacific garbage patch. Many people carelessly throw everything in the trash because recycling is “to hard” or they just don ’t care, but recycling is simple and free. Recycling also helps keep our air clean and healthy. Not only does getting rid of trash burn and release fossil fuels, but the trash itself releases carbon dioxide, which does not seem like a big issue now, but if we keep going on like this with as much trash as we have now, it could become one. A way to help solve our trash issue is having recycling bins in addition to trash cans all around the community, like at schools, on the street, and in public places. This may help to encourage more people to recycle.
