Reuse & Repurpose

It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Share your ideas for extending the “lives” of the items that we buy and use, and their packaging as well!

Taking Recycling in to consideration everywhere

When you are in public or somewhere outside of your house, it is hard to take into consideration what to recycle and what to throw away as regular trash. It becomes especially hard when you do not have somewhere to separate which trash goes where.  I think a way we can change that in any community is really take time to invest in ways to make it easier for people to learn how to decipher which trash is which and to put that into practice.  For example, my school has invested in many tri bins which include a bin for regular trash, a bin for compost, and a bin for recycling.  Even if there is not a bin for all three, there is almost always atleast a bin for both recycling ad regular trash.  I think that one way we can educate others on the use of these bins to separate you trash is by taking intiative to talk to places such as a local restaurante that maybe have not taken the steps to start separaing the trash.  This simple action can lead to a cleaner and greener earth for all of humanity to live on!

i agree with the fact that people don't really know what to recycle and most of the time they just throw it away. And even if there are bins that have pictures of what needs to go into what bin most people might not still take it into consideration about what needs to go into what bin. What other ways is there to motivate people to recycle ?

I agree. If people can understand what the good of recycling really Is, I think that the amount of people who recycle will increase. I also think that it is important for there to be more recycling bins in public places, not just schools. It is very rare that I see a clearly marked recycling bin in places outside of my school. I believe that it is important to educate all kids on the impact of recycling because then they will tell their parents, and hopefully more families will stray to recycle. Even if the impact isn't huge, every bit counts.
