It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

The Floating Island
Floating in the waters of Isla Mujeres of mexico is Richart Sowa's ecological island. This island is comprised of many recycled products, such as plastic bottles, cans, labels, plastic bags, and other items that are commonly thrown in the garbage. His island has also created it's own ecosystem with various plants and animals that he farms for his consumption. Richart also only uses solar energy and rainwater, giving his island a low carbon footprint. Although we all cannot make our own recycled floating islands, perhaps his island could serve to provide inspiration on how to recycle and reuse items more efficiently?

Ah, I've seen this documentary. This guy is ingenious and living it up in style. How many people have wanted their own island before, but he goes out and does it from scratch with unwanted plastic. I am curious to see how his idea will develop over time. Maybe plastic islands are a thing of the future and that is how we deal with our rampant pollution problem.
Thank you for sharing this post. Richart serves as a great example of how to creatively tackle a problem.
