Reuse & Repurpose

It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Share your ideas for extending the “lives” of the items that we buy and use, and their packaging as well!

Items for reuse

When you think about it, a lot of the things can be reused in daily life. Glass jars that used to be filled with tomato sauce could store soup or other beverages. When we complain about overpackaging, think about how to reuse the boxes, maybe give someone else a present using this box? Maybe storage boxes? Paper box or pockets used to package delivery, especially books, could be used when selling secondary books to someone else. At home, we keep a stack of paper that is only printed on one side, and we use those papers when we are not printing official documents or double-sided.
These are all small details in life, but it not only saves you money but also helps the environment. In the sustainable management of waste, reuse comes right after reduce. Sometimes, living in an industrialized society like America, we cannot always buy food or supplies on a farmer's market where the sellers ask you to bring a bag or box. Reduce is very hard to achieve. Reuse become the m ost practical way of living sustainably. Before recycling, think about whether the object has reached the end of its lifetime because recycling takes a lot of energy and resource.
