It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Reuse & Repurpose >
Finding Another Purpose
Because I live with my grandmother, she often "hoards" certain objects that she reuses for different things. I used to think that it was silly, when I was younger, but now, I realized that she was doing something that was not only efficient, but helped reduce trash. She kept little things, like empty glass jars, rubber bands, plastic soup containers you get from restaurants, etc, and she repurposed them for her pickled foods, storing her soup, and much more. Though my family is not necessarily the best in carbon footprints, I found that repurposing waste can be a good way to cut down on your carbon footprint. Not only is this method easy, it doesn't take much thought. All you have to think is, "What else can I do with this?"
My grandmother does the same thing! She saves lime sherbet containers and uses them for literally everything- leftovers, craft supplies, baked goods, etc. You name it and she has it in a sherbet container. I feel like this is a really good way to reduce your carbon footprint because instead of going out to buy new plasticware, you can reuse what you already have. Also, you get a delicious ice cream treat as well. ![]()
