It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Repurposing
The average American generates 4.4 pounds of trash each day, and Americans generate 254 million tons of trash each year. That's crazy! Recycling is an obvious solution to this problem, but repurposing is also a great idea. [This website](http://twistedsifter.com/2012/06/creati … ld-things/) shows many ways to repurpose materials, rather than throwing them away. You can also find many creative and fun ideas on websites like Pinterest. By making something, instead of going out and buying it, you will save money. For example, my dad built his own unique smoker by repurposing materials instead of buying one. It won't really make a difference if only a few people try to repurpose materials. But if everyone comes up with their own unique ideas to repurpose things, it could make a big difference.

Many things like plastic bottles and paper we recycle, which is a much better alternative to throwing it away, but we overlook many other less-obvious things that we can recycle or, even better, reuse. Reusing can include re-purposing something for our own benefit or donating it so that someone else can use it once you won't anymore. This website lists 50 things that you can reuse or re-purpose: https://www.recyclingcenters.org/Top_50 … _Reuse.php
