It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Creative ways to reuse our junk
There are dozens of ways to reuse all of the unwanted items in your house, wether its stacks of scrap paper and piles of clothes that don't fit, or rusty tools and toys in the shed. Donating to thrift stores is not a good way to repurpose your junk. According to East SF Bay sustainability organization Fibershed, 90% of thrift store stock eventually goes into landfill. Give to charity drives; there are many happening all the time so it's not hard. Also, for the artsy ones out there, you can take unwanted stuff and make something cool out of it and possibly sell it. Maybe make collages or paper maché with scrap paper, make a quilt out of old clothes or create an abstract sculpture with random things in your garage and spray paint it. You can consider a garage sale, if you can commit. Also, check if any of your family or friends needs or wants something that you don't need before you consider getting rid of it. As they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure. But always check if you already have something that you want to buy, or if you even need it or if you can make do with what you already have.
